Registered Nurse and Registered Practical Nurse (RN, RPN)
What is a Registered Nurse or Registered Practical Nurse?
Nurses are health professionals that provide care to individuals, families, groups or communities. At the Huronia NPLC, our clinic nurses work closely with other team members to provide the following services to our clients:
- Child and adult immunizations
- Medication injections
- Blood tests
- Heart rate monitoring (ECGs)
- Health assessments
- Provide advice over the phone or follow up visits
- Lifestyle counselling and health teaching (smoking cessation)
- Care for wounds or stitches and more
- Provide teaching to individuals or groups
- Sterilize medical equipment
The terms Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) are protected titles that can only be used by health professionals who are registered with a provincial or territorial regulatory body such as the College of Nurses of Ontario. These regulatory bodies help protect clients by creating practice standards to support nurses in providing safe and ethical care.
How do I access the Nurses?
Simply ask our staff or speak with your Nurse Practitioner for an appointment to see our Registered Nurse or Registered Practical Nurse.
You can access the clinic nurses by telephone. Call the clinic during business hours and ask to speak to a nurse. If the nurses are unavailable at the time of your call, you can leave a message with reception. A nurse will return you call as soon as they become available.
